Music education charity Delia Derbyshire Day wanted to raise awareness of the newly created Delia Derbyshire Archive at the John Rylands Library and how members of the public could access the material. They also wanted to highlight a programme of engagement being undertaken with primary school children.
Belle Vue worked with the charity to make two films. The first film took the viewer on a journey through the archive and used expert testimony to reveal the collection. The second film was with primary school children who told the story of Delia Derbyshire’s life and work as an electronic composer. Working with the charity we produced an outline of scenes which the children then created using different approaches, such as acting, models, and animation. This was then edited into a fun and informative biography of Delia Derbyshire.
